Hello everyone, I am Nora from America. Right now, I live in Kaohsiung with a host family. I live together with a Taiwanese mother, engineer father, senior high school brother, and college-age sister.

Right now, I am an exchange student, so everyday in the morning I take the bus to my school, Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages.  At my school, everyday I have two hours of Chinese class.  My class has students from  America, Japan, Holland, and Columbia! My classmates and I really like to talk about our homelands, so class is very interesting!

After Chinese class, me and my friends go to Wenzao’s back gate to eat lunch. I usually eat bacon fried rice, duck rice, Italian noodles, or my favorite food green onion pancake. (This is a terrible translation, it really does taste much better than it sounds!) Taiwanese food is really cheap and tastes delicious.

In the afternoon, I also have class. On Mondays I have Linguistics. In this class, I have a lot of foreigner and Taiwanese friends, so I feel it is not bad.  On Tuesdays, I am very busy. I have class from 10 to 6. At noontime, I also have Linguistics, from 1 to 3 I have Indonesian, and from 3 to 6 I have World History with a teacher from Britain. After class ends I am exhausted! Wednesday is Chinese day. After Chinese class, I have my calligraphy class and a Chinese stamp making class.  Wednesdays I get to make arts and crafts so I feel good about myself! Thursdays are also a bit busy. In the afternoon, I have Chinese knot tying and International Political Economy with my World History teacher. On Friday afternoons, I just have PE class.  Me and my friends go to the pool and swim.  Swim class is super fun! During the week, some days I also study Chinese with my tutors and some nights I have belly dance class with McKenzie.  During the week I have lots of things to do!

During the weekends, I often have free time. When I have time on the weekend, I like to go to restaurants with my friends, go shopping at Taiwan’s famous night markets, and use Skype to talk with my American family and friends. Sundays, I sometimes go to my host family’s grandparents’ house and eat dinner. After dinner, my host family’s relatives and I play basketball. During the weekend, I also like to go traveling. Last weekend, my friends from my scholarship and I climbed mountains and went to the beach at Haulian. Taiwan’s east coast is a very beautiful place.

This semester I study a lot and go to many fun places. I love Taiwan!
